Milburn Honey Farm - Otago Gold Honey
Based on their family property at Milburn, the business has been part of the local landscape since the 1950s, when Carlee's grandparents first established Milburn Apiaries after immigrating from Holland. After decades of hard work by Carlee's parents, Carlee and Tim took over the business in 2022, rebranding it as Milburn Honey Farm with their premium honey range sold under the Otago Gold Honey name. Today, fourth-generation Aaleeya is also part of the journey.
The team produces six delicious varieties of honey, all harvested from hives located on local farms throughout the district. Alongside their own honey, they create beautiful handmade beeswax candles, provide contract honey packing and extraction services, and welcome visitors to their farm stalls, website, and cosy on-site Airbnb. Their commitment to quality continues to shine, with Otago Gold Honey recently receiving a Gold Medal for Liquid Clover Honey and Silver Medals for both White Clover and Mānuka Honey at the 2026 Outstanding Food Producer Awards.
For Carlee, Milburn has always been home. She loves the strong sense of community, where someone always knows someone who can lend a hand, and values the balance of peaceful rural living while still being close to the city. It's a district that's growing, evolving, and one she's incredibly proud to be part of.
